High Friction Piggable Tools

High Friction Piggable Tools are primarily used to provide a low pressure, high seal isolation during the installation and maintenance of a pipeline and is a technique developed based on using a modified bi-directional pig.

The installation of High Friction Piggable Tools in the pipeline forms an isolating system capable of withstanding suitable pressure differential without moving and providing the required sealing to act as an interface barrier between the product and the worksite.

By combining IK High Friction tools with our Online through wall communications we are able to locate and monitor pressure within the pipe, upstream and downstream of the plugs.

The use of High Friction Piggable Tools as the isolation technique results in a reduced production outage with lower construction costs when compared to a full pipeline decommissioning / recommissioning.

Recent offshore activities involved an Isolation Specialist from IK-UK Limited working alongside our partner, Borneo Seaoffshore Engineering SDN BHD on behalf of Petronas Carigali SDN BHD and resulted in the successful replacement of the Topside ESDV’s on the BNG-B Platform in the Baronia Field in the South China Sea on a 10”NS and an 18”NS pipeline whilst holding a pressure differential of 5 bar.G.
