EPC and installation of a new concrete wall penetration for seawater storage tank.

Product/Service:

Pipe Intervention

Year:

January - August 2020

Location:

Northsea, Norwegian Continental shelf

Project Manager:

Roald Kolnes

The owner of a late life asset discovered a degradation in a carbon steel piping at the start of the existing concrete penetration. IK-Group performed a FEED study and was awarded the contract for EPC and installation offshore, based on the solutions and technical knowhow.

The following steps were taken to perform the work in safe and effective manner:

  • Site survey with 3D scanning of needed volumes
  • Extensive testing to select the correct secondary injection sealant
  • A 6" wall clamp system was designed utilising super duplex materials where the secondary sealant volume were sealed off using long life polymer seals
  • System was installed allowing the client to re-establish the integrity of the system
